I have been a personal trainer for almost 6 years. After my own weightloss journey and discovering the benefits of working out I decided to become a personal trainer. My career started at the YMCA. I loved what I was doing and became very comfortable with my training methods. I was eventually approached by one of the managers and asked if I would be interested in attending a CF-L1 certification to become a coach at the new and upcoming Crossfit Rails box that the YMCA was opening. Unfortunately, I was scared for a variety of reasons and said no. While I don't have many regrets in my life, saying no to him is one of them!

At the time I had not heard a lot about Crossfit but I "knew" I preferred one on one training and I (naturally super introverted) preferred to plug my head phones in, shut the world out, and lift my weights. Also, I was scared to go to a certification by myself. I was scared to learn about something I knew nothing about. I was scared to commit to a position that might mean coaching a large group of people. I was scared to get out of my comfort zone. I had no idea at the time what stepping out of my comfort zone would mean!

Of course when I finally chose to learn more about Crossfit I was pregnant. I finished on boarding (a class to learn the basic movements of Crossfit) and decided after I had the baby I would step back into the box and really give it a shot. The first couple classes I attended I wasn't sure about what I was doing but I quickly fell in love. I know, it sounds silly, but it's true! I fell in love with the community, the movements, the encouraging environment, making and achieving goals, and even eventually dipping my feet into the competitive sport by competing in competitions! All things I didn't even know were possible.

Once my involvement and passion for Crossfit grew I wanted to further my education and I finally attended that CF-L1 certification course! I continued to step out of my comfort zone and once again loved the results. I learned SO much! Unfortunately, becoming a coach at Rails was not in the cards but that didn't extinguish my desire to be involved or to keep learning more.

I also became a Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism coach, attended the CF-Gymnastics course, and I have loved every bit of knowledge I've gained as well. After every course I've taken I have wanted to help so many people at the box but it hasn't been my place. I have stayed patient, which I'm not very good at, and hoped that one day I would be able to join the amazing team of coaches at Crossfit Rails.

Finally, I have been given the opportunity to do what I've been dying to do. Help coach my friends, current members, and all the future members that join Crossfit Rails. I couldn't be more excited to start this journey and ironically it is when I'm pregnant...with baby number 4!

I hope to help each member feel welcomed, not afraid, strong, and to achieve what they thought was unachievable. I know what its like to step foot in a gym/box and be scared and I can't wait to help them gain the confidence to be there! I hope that I can help others step out of their comfort zone and experience the magic that happens when you do.

It is also my goal to help educate members on various subjects closely related to Crossfit. I want to help them not only know how to properly perform a movement, but to understand why we perform these movements. I want to help members understand the connection between the mental and the physical. I want to help members understand why nutrition plays such a key role and is the foundation of Crossfit. I want to help members learn that its not about how much weight you lift or how fast you complete the workout, but it's how you complete it and with what attitude you complete it that matters.

So, if you are a member of Crossfit Rails, I can't wait to serve you through my coaching. I hope to help you become the best version of you. Please know that I will never stop learning and I will do everything in my ability to be the best coach for you that I can be! Here's to accepting the challenge!
