How I Met the Love of My Life

I met my husband the first night I went to college at Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. We both were transfer students (we both chose this school without ever visiting!) and went to the freshman/transfer student orientation dinner. Yes, the first night, but I'm sad to say I don't remember him! He remembers meeting me but I do not remember because I had eyes for his friend Moses!
So over the course of a couple weeks I pursued Moses; inviting him to study groups and hangouts with my friends. He would always bring his friend Danny. Eventually l I learned Moses was married (that quickly put that to an end!) and he informed me that Danny wanted to keep hanging out.
I thought Danny was super annoying and he looked like he was full of himself. He would always walk around with headphones in, a beanie on his head, vans on his feet, and camo shorts on. When I finally decided to give him a chance we quickly became good friends. In fact, for Thanksgiving break I found out he wasn't flying home to California to see his family so I invited him home with me. I quickly informed my mom and sisters that "Danny is just a friend. Seriously. There is no way I could ever date him. He is super nice but nothing more than that!"
It took me until Summer break to realize that Danny was winning my heart. Before he left for Summer break I told him good bye and that I hoped he had a great summer and found a girlfriend. The next day I quickly realized I wanted that girlfriend to be me! I called him and told him. His response? "Oh that's cool. But I'm not asking you to be my girlfriend. I will only do that in person." I think we started dating that day though. That entire summer we talked on the phone at least once a day for at least an hour. Some nights I was up late and he was up early or vice versa because of the time change (2 hours). There was only 1 day that summer we couldn't talk because he was busy helping some friends move to a different state. After summer break I picked him up from the airport and that night he asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes and the rest is history!
Ok, not quite. So even once we started dating I was still not sure what God was calling me to. I was really happy and loved Daniel with all my heart but I could not discern God's will for me. Finally one day I opened up to Daniel and told him. I started crying because I was so conflicted. We were eating lunch and he stopped (which he never does!) and said "You need to figure that out because I'm all in." He left and walked to the car. I followed in tears but once we got into the car he started saying a bunch of things. I still wish I could remember but all I know is what he said is what I had been praying about and a huge sense of peace came into my heart. I went from crying to laughing because I finally knew. At that moment I could have married him!
A few months later we got engaged, married, found out we were pregnant on our late honeymoon, graduated from college, found my husband a job, moved back to my hometown, got pregnant again, then got pregnant another time, and that brings us to present day! Life is amazing and I can't imagine living life without my wonderful husband and best-friend.
